Serving on the Awards Committee is a very positive experience. Members choose recipients, as well as presenters, and plan a special Awards banquet.
They assist in choosing a location and menu, and, in cooperation with the Scholarship Committee, plan the evening's program.
Although the Awards Committee may choose to present special awards, two awards are almost always given. In order to encourage employment of people who are blind or visually impaired, an Employer of the Year award is given.
The committee is also responsible for selecting someone to receive the Louis Seidita Distinguished Service Award, presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service to people who are blind or visually impaired.
The Awards Committee is made up of seven members, including the Council's Pr/Fundraising Director, and the Executive Director.
