April 14, 2008 Dear Friends: I invite you to a special seminar in the Appleton/Fox Cities area. The Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired is hosting Vision Loss: Finding Powerful Tools for Independence on Friday, June 20, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event is offered in partnership with the Appleton office of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, Inc. and will be held at the Liberty Hall Banquet and Conference Center, 800 Eisenhower Drive, Kimberly, Wisconsin. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. There will be displays representing other organizations that work with both blind and visually impaired individuals and older adults throughout Wisconsin. A selection of helpful items and will be for sale during the day from the Council's Sharper Vision Store. Free parking is available Liberty Hall. Discussion topics during the day include how a family can cope with age related eye diseases, how an individual handles vision loss, activities of independent daily living, and more. Presentations will be given by Council members as well as professional staff from both the Council and Lutheran Social Services. You will hear interesting personal stories, too! You are invited to enjoy the day with us, including a wonderful luncheon. We are able to offer this interesting and helpful program for a small registration fee of $10.00 to help cover the costs associated with the meeting and luncheon.
