Description
Immediate opening for a full time rehabilitation teacher/rehab teacher, working with adults (with primary focus on older adults). Duties include assessing and evaluating the needs and abilities of individuals with impaired vision for meeting immediate needs related to independent living; developing individualized rehabilitation lessons, teaching adaptive skills needed for independent living in areas of personal care, household management, communication, education, leisure activities, and use of low vision aids; writing monthly reports; attending staff meetings; making community awareness and education presentations and teaching in group settings as well as individually.
This position is primarily itinerant.
Qualifications
ACVREP certification (CVRT) or certification within two years of hire preferred. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required. Excellent communication and computer skills needed with knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience or interest in working with blind or visually impaired older adults required. Recent graduates welcome to apply. Orientation and Mobility certification a plus.
